As a major subcontractor to Axient, Metis will be supporting NASA’s Systems and Software Assurance Services 2 (SAS2) contract with software and systems engineering expertise. SAS2 is a cost-plus-fixed-fee, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract with reimbursable task orders and a maximum ordering limitation of approximately $170 million awarded to Axient Corporation on December 23, 2021.
The SAS2 contract provides Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V) of mission-critical flight and ground software and cybersecurity assessments of systems for NASA’s highest-profile missions. By applying IV&V, NASA achieves the highest levels of safety and cost-effectiveness for mission software. The Agency-wide SAS2 contract is currently supporting the following programs: Europa; Gateway; the International Space Station (ISS); Joint Polar Satellite System-2 (JPSS-2); the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST); Landsat 9; the Mission Control Center (MCC); the Space Launch System (SLS); the Wide Field Infrared Survey Telescope (WFIRST); and the Roman Space Telescope. Work will be performed at the Katherine Johnson IV&V Facility in Fairmont, West Virginia and at NASA Centers around the country.
“NASA’s IV&V program is critical to the success of the Agency’s exploration, science and technology programs. We are honored to continue our support of NASA and our strategic relationship with Axient by supporting their team in execution of this important contract,” said Metis CEO Joy Colucci.
