Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer (LADEE) is a NASA mission that orbited the Moon with its main objective to characterize the atmosphere and lunar dust environment.
Metis supported the project in the area of Flight Dynamics. A Metis engineer led the LADEE flight dynamics team, providing analysis, operations product development (procedures, automation scripts, timelines, etc.), operational preparation activities for Mission Simulations, ORTs and Rehearsals. As mission flight dynamics lead, Metis designed lunar trajectories and planned spacecraft maneuvers during all phases of the mission. Metis also re-planned the mission trajectory twice during primary operations, enabling both an extended primary mission and an extended low-altitude science mission. We also supported the UVS instrument data analysis effort.
