James Theiss

Jim Theiss is Vice President of Space Programs for Metis Technology Solution Inc. located in Albuquerque New Mexico. He provides day-to-day management of Metis personnel on several contracts supporting NASA JPL, NASA Ames and Goddard Research Centers, Air Force Material Command, and Air Force Research Lab Space Vehicles Directorate Engineering and Integration. In addition, he is the senior manager of Metis’ Independent Research and Development lab located in Albuquerque where various DoD and NASA small business innovative research software projects are being worked.

Mr. Theiss retired from the United States Air Force in 2016 after completing a 23-year career focused on Developmental Engineering and Acquisition Management. His assignments included Deputy Division Lead for the Space Electro-Optics Division, Air Force Research Lab Directed Energy Directorate, Deputy Director of Air Force Inspection Agency analysis and training, engineering management positions at Space and Missile Systems Center as Chief of Space Technology Development and Management and Chief of Engineering Sustainment and Air Launch targets for legacy ICBM missile systems Center (LA and Kirtland AFBs respectively), US Strategic Command Conventional Global Strike requirements development and mission-unique contract support acquisition manager, and various aircraft and weapon flight testing. He received a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a Master of Arts in Military Operational Art form Air University.
