Kari Gonter

Kari Gonter is the Metis site lead on the NASA Aviation Safety Reporting System (ASRS) contract located at Ames Research Center in Mountain View, California. With over 40 years of aviation experience, Kari has also served as a Subject Matter Expert on various Air Traffic Control projects at Ames, including projects about Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, Human Factors, and Aviation Cognitive Engineering.

Before joining Metis, Kari worked for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), retiring after a 25-year career. During his time at the FAA, Kari was an Air Traffic Controller, Traffic Management Coordinator, Front Line Manager, Supervisor Traffic Management Coordinator, and Traffic Management Officer. The last position Kari held at the FAA before retirement was Operations Manager at the Southern California Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON) facility, the busiest TRACON facility in the National Airspace System. Kari is also a U.S. Air Force Veteran and serves as the President for the NASA Ames Contractor Council.
