The NASA Deep Space Network – or DSN – is an international network of antennas that supports interplanetary spacecraft missions and radio and radar astronomy observations for the exploration of the solar system and the universe. The network also supports selected Earth-orbiting missions. Metis was part of the Exelis team that won the 10-year contract from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory to operate and continue development of the DSN last year. Metis is involved in a variety of tasks related to network operational planning, interfacing with NASA science mission teams to ensure their space communications needs are met, network engineering and data analysis and development of DSN web services.
