Metis welcomes Janet Stuart to our senior leadership team as Director of Corporate Development. Dr. Stuart has over fifteen years of project and program management experience related to space systems and over twenty-five years of experience in military and commercial space systems. She has extensive technical experience in aerospace systems engineering and R&D and spent several years supporting the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) in both a systems engineering and program management capacity. Dr. Stuart served as the PM for AFRL’s Space Technology Research, and Integrated Vehicle Experiments (STRIVE) contract for three years, overseeing the launch of the EAGLE, Mycroft, and DSX space missions.
Dr. Stuart’s background in systems, mechanical, and aerospace engineering gives her a broad knowledge as well as a detailed understanding of technical issues. Her engineering experience covers a wide range of aerospace and technology development areas including commercial satellite imaging, satellite communication systems, satellite-based asset management & tracking and experimental satellite missions for the Air Force. She obtained her Ph.D. and M.S. in Aerospace Engineering Sciences from the University of Colorado at Boulder and her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Utah State University. Her technical skills and understanding are complemented by proven program management experience. She is a certified PMP, and holds an active Top Secret clearance.
As Director of Corporate Development, Dr. Stuart will work with the Metis CEO to develop corporate capabilities and strategic direction, as well as supporting Metis Business Development activities.
