Metis Accepted into US Air Force Technology Accelerator Program

Following Metis’ award of a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase 1 contract at the Air Force’s first Pitch Day, the company was accepted into the Air Force Technology Accelerator Program (TAP) class of 2019.  The SBIR TAP is a joint program between the Air Force SBIR/STTR Office, the Wright Brothers Institute (WBI) and The Entrepreneurs Center (TEC):

  • The Wright Brothers Institute (WBI), in formal partnership with its foundational stakeholder, the Air Force Research Laboratory, operates as a neutral enabler for multidisciplinary joint teams to come together in intense collaborations, which focus on complex problems and challenges. WBI provides direct support for technology transfer, technology transition, and commercialization;
  • The Entrepreneurs Center (TEC) is a technology commercialization center that supports technology-focused start-ups and small businesses through a variety of programs, with clients primarily in the aerospace, advanced materials, and biosciences markets.  TEC and WBI have led the SBIR TAP since its inception in 2015;

The SBIR TAP is assisting Metis in commercialization of the company’s STIGAssist product, an application for cybersecurity risk management analysis, assessment and mitigation. STIGAssist functionality includes:

  • Ability to ingest DISA-based security standards Designed to accommodate Cybersecurity Risk Management
  • Automates assessment and mitigation of cybersecurity vulnerabilities
  • Increases accuracy and repeatability of vulnerability assessments and mitigations
  • Reduces total time of assessment, mitigation, and required cybersecurity professional man-hours
  • Provides consistent implementation of assessment and mitigations
  • Provides scalability to support a wide variety of system designs
